Trivia
  • This VHS contains an edited version of the episode that is strictly exclusive to this VHS, which features a cold open featuring 3 kids teaching Steve the Birthday Candle dance, and a "Mystery Present" scene closer to the end. However, the video letter edited out some of the celebrity appearances, likely due to copyright issues. For example, Rosie O'Donnell who is seen in TV airings and the DVD release of Blue's Biggest Stories, did not appear on this VHS release due to copyright issues with Warner Bros. Discovery.
  • This VHS was released by Paramount Home Video and Nickelodeon on September 8, 1998, exactly 2 years after the series premiere, "Snack Time", first aired.
  • A rare demo release of this VHS also exists. It's almost the same as the official release, except with no commercials, an alternate "Feature Presentation" and extended scrolling FBI opening, and the following watermark credit that appears at the bottom of the screen once every 5 or so minutes:
    • © 1998 Paramount Pictures. All rights reserved.
Not for reproduction, sale, rental or public performance of any kind, under penalty of law.
  • This VHS has only one episode from Season 2, most likely due to the extended/edited scenes.
    • This is the first "official" VHS to have only one episode, followed by "Blue's Big Musical Movie".
    • The Spanish release, however, also contains one episode from Season 1.
  • During the cold opening, when Steve is in the live-action living room, his current styled short hair from Seasons 3-4 (introduced in "Art Appreciation") is used, this is because at that time, Season 3 episodes were in production as it was the time Steve's hair got more shorter.
    • However, when he is shown in the TV as well as in the "Mystery Present" sense, his original styled long hair (during late Season 2) is shown.
      • This likely means that these scenes were deleted scenes from the actual episode that was filmed in late 1997.
  • This is the first video to have a Season 2 episode, and the last video to be released in 1998.
  • This the only Blue's Clues VHS tape to not have a Nick Jr. or Nickelodeon logo at the end. Only the Paramount Home Video logo is shown.
    • However, the Nick Jr. Turtles logo from the original episode can be seen at the end of the Australian and Spanish releases with the 2000 copyright stamp, likely due to Turquoise's debut.
  • Instead of having 3 Nick Jr. Face segments, this VHS has 2 Nick Jr. Face segments, one after the Nick Jr. Elephants ID, and the other at the very end of this VHS after the credits and before the Paramount Home Video logo.
  • The "Face Sings His Very Very Short Goodbye Song" at the very end of this VHS after the credits and before the Paramount Home Video logo was previously seen on the 1996 VHS reissue release of Wide Awake at Eureeka's Castle, as well as on the 1997 VHS releases of Little Bear: "Meet Little Bear," Allegra's Window: "Play Along With Allegra & Friends," and Gullah Gullah Island: "Dance Along With The Daise Family." It would later be seen again on the 1999 VHS release of Blue's Clues: Rhythm and Blue.
  • This VHS runs for 38 minutes instead of the usual 50.
  • The opening previews from this VHS are the same previews as Little Bear: "Goodnight Little Bear" and Gullah Gullah Island: "Christmas".
